Creating Modular Stairs

For the entrance hall area I was eager to test out some new modular environment techniques. Taking into account what Thiago Klafke said in his modular design tutorial, I tried to get the texture work done sooner rather than later. I went about creating a detailed asset that I would repeat throughout the scene. You can see the low poly model ready for surface transfer below:


Below is the result of the surface transfer:


Once I was happy with the look of the asset, I was able to tile it to create a simple bannister that fit within my grid. You can see the modular assets below:



Here are the assets successfully tiled together to create an elaborate staircase:



So far I am happy with the result as it allowed me to piece it together rather quickly. I will moving onto modular wall and door elements to start fleshing out the environment.
